Lesson 11: Important traits of Holy Quran

Important traits of Holy Quran:

The important traits of Holy Quran are given as follows:

i. Last Revealed Books:

Holy Quran is the last revealed book of Allah, which was revealed on the last Prophet Muhammad and it the greatest source of right path for the mankind till the. day of judgement. After Quran no book has been revealed till today and no book will be revealed till the last day.

ii. Preserved Books:

As Quran is the source of righteousness and right path for people of every nation and age till the day of Qiyamah: Therefore Allah has specially promised to secure and preserve Quran.

Allah says:

انا نحن نَزَلْنَا الذِكرُ وَإِنالَ لَحفِظُونَ (الحجر:9)

Translation: "Indeed, It is we who sent down the Quran and indeed we will be its guaradians".

This is the reason that even after 1400 years, every word of Quran is secure. Such  ́arrangements of its preservation have been done by Allah that it has been secured by any type of amendments for ever. On the other hand, other divine books have been greatly ammended. Their major part has been lost and what was left, people added many things in them. Now, these books are not preserved in their real form. But, holy Quran is available in its real form and it will be secured for ever.

iii. Revealed book with live language:

The language in which Quran was revealed is an alive language. These days even, Arabic is the national language of more then 20 countries. It is one of the greatest languages in the world. The languages in which previous divine books were revealed have now become dead and a very less number of people understand them..

iv. Universal Book:

It can be understood from the study of other divine books that those were sent for the particular country or people of a particular nation but Quran is the message of guidance and righteousness for whole mankind. This book addresses "O people" and conveys message to all mankind. This is a universal book and its teachings are practical and applicable in every age and country. The teachings of this book are natural and people of all ages feel that it has been revealed for their times as its teachings are equally, beneficial for people of every country or age and for people living in any condition are useful and according to human wisdom.

v. Comprehensive book:

Among old divine books, some, were based on moral teachings only. some were compilation of duas and prayers only. However, Quran is such a comprehensive book in which all aspects of life have been highlighted. There is lesson of faith and deeds, lesson of morality and spirituality is also there. There are historical events and special prayers mentioned too. This is such a comprehensive book which guides in all aspects of life.

vi. The book favoring wisdom and civilization:

Among old divine books, there are some books based on such incidents and aspects which are irrational and non factual and in some books there are much uncivilized and immoral things found. (It is evident that these sayings and stories are fake which someone would have added in them). On the contrary, Holy Quran is free of all such false aspects. There is nothing in it which can be falsified through experiment and evidence. and there is no irrationalism in it. There is no immoral talk in it. It teaches respects of all the prophets and it tells about everyone that they were pious and respectable. Whatever is said against them is false and against facts.

Miraculous books:

Holy Quran is that master piece of speech and fluency that no orator or fluent Arab or no Arab could compete it and they were humbled by it. All the opponents have been invited in Quran that to compose any surah against even any little surah of Quran,, But, no one could present any such example. As it is word of Allah and not of any human being. Then how a human could compose it. This is the real miracle of this book.

Testifying book:

Holy Quran is such a book which mentions and testifies previous divine books as there is no such other book which testifies old divine books or scriptures (sahaif) revealed.

However, it is only Quran that mentions and testifies old revealed books and scripts.

Effective book:

It is the most effective book. The non-believers of Makkah used to say that Muhammad has the book of magic with him and people become muslims immediately after listening it. The words and meanings of Quran have that deep impact one one's heart that no other book could have.

Allah says in Quran:

نَا مُتَصَدِعَا مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللهِ (الحشر: 21) لو انزلنا هذا القُرْآنَ عَلَى جَبَلٍ لَرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُتَصَدَعَا مِن خَشي

Translation: "If we had sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah".

Message of unity:

Allah gives message of unity to human race..

Allah said: (Ale-Imran verse 103)

"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah

al together and do not become divided".

Unique book:

It is a unique book which does not have any match. It is said in Quran: (Surah Bani Israel) (verse 88)

"say, "If mankind and the Jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants".

Doubtless Book:

There is no room for doubt and suspicion in any verse or commandment given in Quran. It is mentioned in The Holy Quran:

ذلِكَ الكتب لا ريب فيه (القرو:2)

Translation: "This is the book, about which there is no doubt".

vii. Reasons of Progressive climax and downfall:

Quran has fixed standard of nation's respect and humiliation, progress and downfall. Then it has guaranteed success and progress to those people and nations who believe in Quran with true hearts and act on its teachings. On the other hand, those nations who ignore this book and do not follow its commandments and instructions they get failed and humiliated in this world and in the here after. The explanation of idea comes from the given below saying of Prophet Muhammad.

. اِنَّ اللهَ يَرْفَعُ بِهَذَا الْكِتَابِ أَقْوَامًا وَيَضَعُ بِهِ أَخَرِينَ

Translation: Allah raises many nations in ranks and degrades many nations due to this book. According to Allama Iqbal.

"Woh zamanay main muaziz thay musalman hokar

aur tum khawar huway tarek e Quran hokar"
